Kagyu Samye Ling
Kagyu Samye Ling Monastery and Tibetan Centre was founded in 1967 and is situated in the peaceful countryside near Eskdalemuir in the Scottish Borders. Under the wise guidance of Dr Akong Tulku Rinpoche it has grown from humble beginnings in a modest country house, to a flourishing Monastery able to accommodate a growing number of residents and visitors. Its magnificent temple, made with modern materials but following traditional Tibetan Buddhist design, was built entirely by volunteers and opened in 1988 to become the nucleus of the expanding Samye Ling community.
