Tibetan Medicine at Rokpa

Tibetan Medicine
Under the guidance of the Tara Institute of Tibetan Medicine, Dr Lobsang Dhonden consults monthly at Rokpa Glasgow by appointment only. He is assisted in translation by Dr Colin Millard from Edinburgh.

Traditional Tibetan Medicine offers a truly holistic approach to your health and well-being. The Tibetan medical system focuses on treating the root cause of the problem as opposed to the alleviating the discomfort caused by the symptoms. It can be used alone or in conjunction with Western medicine. It recognises how dietary, psychological, lifestyle and environmental factors cause imbalance in the body and mind.

Dr Lobsang Dhonden
Dr Dhonden is highly experienced in the field of Tibetan Medicine, having studied and practised over the past twenty years.
He commenced his studies in Tibet for five years under the guidance of an uncle who was also a doctor. This enabled him to enter the Central Medical Institute for Traditional Tibetan Medicine in Lhasa, where he studied for a further five years until graduating with the Men-Rampa (Tib), or Masters Degree in Tibetan Medicine.
After graduating, he went to work at the premier centre of excellence in traditional Tibetan medicine, the Lhasa Mentse Khang Hospital. There he received further teaching, instruction and transmissions from famous Tibetan doctors, in particular from the eminent Professor Khenpo Tsenam, regarded by many as the greatest living practitioner and teacher of Tibetan Medicine.
